Osteopathic Medicine Admissions Consulting
How to get into Osteopathic Medicine
Pursuing a career in Osteopathic Medicine (DO) through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) has become an incredibly competitive pathway for students interested in pursuing Osteopathic medicine. One of the major advantages of Osteopathic Medicine is that traditionally, GPA cut-offs for DO schools and MCAT cut-offs for DO schools are lower than allopathic medical degrees.
Difference between MD and DO
The key difference between Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and Allopathic Medicine (MD) is that students are focused on learning the art of osteopathy, which involves the manipulation of health, function and human physiology. The holistic perspective on human health is one of the major determinants of Osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)is a combination of many allied health fields including, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Chiropractics and traditional medicine.

Osteopathic Medical School Applications (AACOM)
The AACOMAS Application is one of the most essential components to successfully getting into a DO medical school, in addition to high academic performance and a well-rounded candidate profile. The AACOMAS application includes multiple sections: AACOMAS Personal Statement, AACOMAS Experiences, AACOMAS Academic History, AACOMAS Achievements and AACOMAS Evaluations (Letters of Reference).
Osteopathic Medical School Interviews (DO Interviews)
At many DO schools, the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) has become the mainstay format for DO school interviews. However, the traditional panel style medical school interview and variations of the conversation style medical school interview are still implemented across the United States.
