Want to experience what it’s like to be a doctor? Our hands-on Pre-Med Skills Program and Certification was designed based on a highly successful North American model of medical education for pre-medical candidates. Led by physicians, this program is open to High School, University and Graduate students interested in getting a taste of what it’s like to be a physician. In this dynamic certification program, we teach students how to suture, cast, interpret medical imaging, take vital signs, examine the heart and lungs, and approach challenging medical diagnoses. The course can be coupled with a dynamic CPR and First-AID course which is a requirement of all North American medical schools.Our medical workshops and certificate programs have been developed using evidence based approaches that have been shown time and time again to help aspiring medical doctors succeed. Led by our diverse team of medical doctors, we strive to provide the best and most engaging programming in North America.
Pre-Med Skills Certificate Program
Hands-On and In-Person: Our pre-med skills program pairs you with practicing physicians for one on one sessions that build clinical skills. This is a great first experience for high school students or for college students looking to build their medical experience.
Practicing Physicians: Our medical coaches become your mentors. Work directly with medical doctors during one-on-one sessions.
Medical Experience: From suturing to casting, clinical skills and diagnostic imaging interpretation, we have to put together a dynamic curriculum to build your pre-medical skills.
Certificate for your Resume: At the completion of your program you will receive an official printed and digital Pre-Med Skills Certificate.
Real World Clinical Exposure: Our Pre-Med skills program is a great opportunity to flexibly get real world medical experience locally in your city.
Clinical Research: Get exposure to real clinical research. Learn how to interpret clinical trials, synthesize data and conduct a literature review.
Medical Workshop 1 [Introduction to Suturing]:
This dynamic 1 on 1 session with a physician is a fantastic introduction to suturing. Using a simulation model (included with purchase), learn basic suturing techniques include: simple interrupted, horizontal mattress and vertical mattress suture. Session length is 2 Hours.
Medical Workshop 2 [Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging]
: This 1 on 1 session with a physician is an introduction to radiology. Learn the basics of X-ray, CT scan, Ultrasound and MRI imaging. Review standard approach to common medical complaints (e.g. shortness of breath). Learn how to interpret a chest Xray and abdominal Xray. Session length is 2 Hours.
Medical Workshop 3 [Introduction to Vital Signs]:
This 1 on 1 session teaches the fundamentals of the clinical exam, the very important vital sign assessment. Work with a Physician and Standardized Patient to learn how to assess Heart Rate, Breathing and Blood Pressure. Also learn to conduct a basic precordial exam and respiratory exam. Session length is 2 Hours.
Medical Workshop 4 [Introduction to Medical Research]
: This 1 on 1 sessions teaches the fundamentals of critical appraisal. Work through some of the landmark medical papers and learn how to critically navigate different sections of research publications. Learn the basics of research study design. Following your session, you will be responsible for completing a literature search and summary of a research topic of your choice. Session length is 2 Hours.
Medical Workshop 5 [Clinical Observership]
: The clinical observership session pairs you with a practicing physician for a clinical observership. Spend time in an outpatient clinic observing patient histories, physical examinations and assessments. This is the final stage of your pre-med skills certification process. Session length is 4 Hours.
